I Remain Loyal to PDP, Not Defecting to APC —Plateau Gov Mutfwang

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has dismissed rumours suggesting his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), reaffirming his unwavering loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The governor’s response came after a viral social media post featuring an electronic flex banner with his image hinted at his alleged defection to the APC.

In a statement issued by Gyang Bere, the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor, the report was described as misleading and baseless. Bere emphasized that Governor Mutfwang remains committed to the PDP and the people of Plateau State, who elected him during the 2023 general elections under the PDP platform.

“Governor Mutfwang firmly upholds the party’s values and the trust placed in him by the people of Plateau State who overwhelmingly elected him in the 2023 elections under the PDP,” the statement read.

The governor’s office further stressed that while the false report may not have warranted a response, it became necessary to set the record straight and prevent any confusion among the public.

“This orchestrated falsehood, crafted by certain individuals and executed by mischief-makers, is aimed at creating division between the governor and the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as well as his dedicated supporters in Plateau State,” Bere added.

“Governor Mutfwang has not authorized any individual or group to produce or circulate the alleged flex banner promoting his defection to the APC.”

Bere reiterated that the governor remains resolute in his commitment to the PDP and is dedicated to delivering on the mandate given to him by the people of Plateau State.

“The notion that he has contemplated leaving the PDP for the APC is entirely false,” Bere stated, adding that the public should disregard such misleading claims, which he attributed to detractors attempting to tarnish the governor’s reputation for their selfish political gain.

In his closing remarks, the governor urged the public to ignore the baseless rumours, reaffirming that his loyalty to the PDP and the people of Plateau State remains steadfast.
