In a heated response, Super Eagles and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has publicly criticized former Super Eagles Coach, Finidi George, following comments made by the ex-coach suggesting that players like Osimhen cannot be begged to play for Nigeria.

This controversy erupted after the Super Eagles’ recent disappointing World Cup qualifiers, which saw them draw 1-1 with South Africa and suffer a 2-1 defeat to Benin Republic in June.

Finidi George, in a post-match interview, blamed players like Osimhen for not taking their national duties seriously, which he claimed contributed to the team’s lackluster performances.

Osimhen, clearly irate, took to Instagram Live to address these allegations, stating that he has lost all respect for the coach due to these unfounded accusations.

“I will post the pictures and the screenshots I had when I spoke to Finidi George after he was appointed,” Osimhen declared, expressing his frustration.

“You all believe that someone is keeping quiet because he is a footballer… Ogun kill anybody, any of you that believe I didn’t want to play for Nigeria.”

Osimhen did not hold back, emphasizing his desire to be part of the team and criticizing Finidi for his failure to properly manage the situation.

“You can talk nonsense. I have lost the respect I have for that man (Finidi), I have lost it all. I swear to God I have lost it now because why? I called him, told him to allow me to come to the camp to be with the boys. I have all these recorded, to come talk to the boys.”

The striker’s explosive remarks have added fuel to an already tense situation within the Super Eagles camp, highlighting the discord and communication issues between the players and coaching staff.

This public fallout underscores the challenges facing the team as they aim to secure their place in the upcoming World Cup, with internal conflicts potentially jeopardizing their ambitions.
