The bodies of a man and his wife were discovered in their home on Thursday evening by Abubor Nnewi-Chi residents in the Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The proprietor of Markis Aluminium Window & Glasses has been recognised as the man.
In a widely shared video, a local claimed that the couple had been slain by their son, who is thought to be an undergraduate student. The reason for the action is still unknown, and the suspect is said to have fled after killing the parents.
A resident who spoke in Igbo said that the incident happened at Nnadi Igwebogu’s compound in Abubor Nnewi-Chi.
He said, “The dead bodies of his father and mother are still in their room at Nnadi Igwebogu compound, decaying. We are waiting for the police to remove the dead bodies because they have decayed.
“It is happening at Nnadi Igwebogu in Nnwei-Chi. Markis Aluminium in Abubor who makes Almako windows and glasses. Their only son murdered them and ran away. Nobody knows.”
The attack was confirmat to news reporters by the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng, who also ordered a swift manhunt for the perpetrator.
In addition, he ordered that the case be handed over right away to the State Criminal Probe Department for a covert investigation.
The bodies have been located and placed in the morgue in the interim.
