Honesty Rewarded: NAHCO Celebrates Cleaner for Returning $10,000 Found in Aircraft

The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO) has honored Mr. Auwal Dankode, a staff member who demonstrated exceptional integrity by returning $10,000 found while cleaning an aircraft in Kano.

Dankode, who hails from Kano, was commended and rewarded at NAHCO’s headquarters at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

The recognition followed his discovery of the money, which had been left behind by a passenger on seat No 25H of an MS 878 passenger aircraft operated by Egypt Air at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) last Wednesday. Dankode promptly handed over the funds to the airline’s Station Manager.

In a statement released on Saturday, Mr. Indranil Gupta, Group Managing Director/CEO of NAHCO, praised Dankode for embodying the company’s values.

Gupta stated, “We are truly proud of the exemplary character exhibited by Auwal. He is a true NAHCO ambassador and an embodiment of what NAHCO stands for: honesty, integrity, diligence, and hard work.”

Gupta further added, “We celebrate your being and we want this to be just the beginning. Let the values which your family has instilled, guide you and groom you into an ideal leader, which everyone will be proud of.”

Dankode’s commendable act resulted in a substantial cash reward, an instant promotion, and an appointment as a NAHCO Brand Ambassador.

Gupta emphasized the significance of maintaining high standards, stating, “We urge you to continue working the same way with very high integrity, diligence, and continue being a good NAHCO ambassador.”

NAHCO’s Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Adeoye Emiloju, also lauded Dankode for his integrity. “The integrity you’ve displayed is not something that anyone can pretend to have. You’ve shown that it is something that is in you,” Emiloju remarked.

Mr. Didier Steullet, NAHCO’s Chief Operating Officer, encouraged Dankode to remain grounded despite the accolades. “What you have done is very good. You’re the example not only of the week but probably of the year,” Steullet said.

“My only recommendation is that please keep going on the same way. Remain yourself and don’t get carried away with the adulation that you are receiving on social media.”

Group Executive Director, Dr. Sola Obabori, highlighted the global impact of Dankode’s actions, stating, “You’ve become a poster boy of NAHCO not only in Nigeria but all over the world because the internet makes things global. You have done something that makes us proud.”

As a NAHCO Brand Ambassador, Dankode will represent the company at major events across the country, promote the NAHCO brand, and interact with top officials and stakeholders.
