Gunmen have abducted the General Overseer of Faith Fasting and Prayer Ministry in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, Prophet Jay Jay Enejeta.
The pastor was said to have been abducted on Thursday evening while he was going home.
A source said Enejeta was driving home in the company of his wife, Pastor (Mrs) Faith Enejeta when the gunmen opened fire on his Lexus Jeep as he was nearing his house.
It was gathered that the shots fired by the gunmen shattered the front passenger right side front door window glass of his car and hit the wife on her neck and head.
Sources said the cleric was abducted by the gunmen, while his wife died on the spot. She was confirmed dead at the hospital she was rushed to in Abraka. Her corpse has since been deposited in a morgue in the university community.
At the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the pastor was still unknown.
Security sources said that the pastor may have been hit by a bullet, as the path the criminals carried him through was littered with blood.
When contacted, the police spokesman in the state, DSP Edafe Bright, said he was yet to be briefed about any such incidence.
Meanwhile, security operatives alongside local vigilante members have since begun searching for the cleric in the surrounding bush close to the scene of the incident.
Reacting to the news, Comrade Efe Don Kigho, President, Oruarivie-Abraka Youth Council (OYC), said: “I received with rude shock this morning the news of the kidnapping of one Pastor J.J in Abraka last night.
“I was told the wife was shot dead in the process and his sister is currently hospitalized as she is in critical condition (as a result of gunshot).”
Adding: “The local government chairman must take responsibility for all these. Enough is enough.”
