Kidnappers of worshippers at Maranatha Baptist Church and St Moses Catholic Church in Robuh, Ungwan Aku, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State have demanded N100m ransom for the 36 worshippers in their captivity.
Kaduna Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan on Sunday confirmed the killing of the three persons in the attack by the bandits.
The bandits reportedly stormed the communities riding on about 30 motorcycles.
District Head of Angwan Fada, Rubu community, who was one of the kidnapped victims in the Sunday attack, Elisha Mari, told journalists on Monday that he was released by the abductors and asked to go and get N100m to secure the release of his kinsmen.
Mari spoke to journalists when heads of security agencies and a Kaduna government delegation visited the area to assess the situation on Monday.
According to him, the bandits riding on over 30 motorcycles stormed their villages and fire sporadic gunshots, causing panic before abducting the victims.
He said it took them about two hours before they arrived at the bandits’ camp where the hostages were kept.
Mari said he was set free because of his position as the traditional ruler, adding that he was asked to go and raise N100 million ransom to secure the freedom of the abducted victims.
