Gun Violence Rocks Benue: Four Injured in Separate Cultist, Gunmen Attacks

At least four individuals are currently receiving treatment for gunshot wounds following two separate violent incidents involving suspected cultists and unidentified gunmen in Benue State on Thursday.

Renowned security analyst, Zagazola Makama, brought the disturbing events to light via a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday.

According to his report, the attacks occurred in the volatile regions of Katsina-Ala and Logo Local Government Areas.

In the first incident, which took place around 11:00 p.m. near the Head Bridge area of Katsina-Ala, a young man identified as Emmanuel (surname withheld) was shot in the shoulder by suspected cultists.

The motive for the attack remains unclear, but residents link it to ongoing rival cult clashes in the area.

Emmanuel was swiftly transported to Toro Hospital for emergency medical care.

Earlier in the day, around 5:30 p.m., another violent encounter was reported along Tse Abi Road in Azege, Logo LGA.

Eyewitnesses say unknown gunmen opened fire on a group of locals from Ayilamo village.

Three individuals — Iorhemba Aondonengen, Amo Orseer, and Bem Sughter — sustained varying degrees of bullet wounds.

The victims were rushed to the Ayilamo Primary Health Care Clinic and are currently undergoing treatment.

In response to the attacks, security operatives have been deployed to both communities.

Authorities confirmed that investigations have been launched and a manhunt is underway to apprehend the perpetrators.

These incidents add to the growing security concerns in Benue State, a region long plagued by communal clashes, cult violence, and criminal gang activity.

Residents are once again calling on government and security agencies to intensify efforts to restore peace and safety across the state.
