Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has advised recently freed minors to stay away from violent protests and instead promote peace in their communities.
Speaking to the minors on Tuesday night at the Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital in Kano, Governor Yusuf urged them to turn over a new leaf, saying, “Do not engage in any form of violent protest. Wherever you see youths planning a protest, discourage them, as you have now become advocates of peace.”
The Governor also encouraged the minors to reflect on their experiences and share messages of non-violence with others.
He announced that the state’s Commissioner for Education would assess each minor’s educational background.
Those out of school would be reintegrated into the education system, while others engaged in small businesses would receive financial support to continue or start their ventures.
Governor Yusuf further stated that the minors would remain in the hospital for 4-5 days to undergo thorough medical evaluations, ensuring they are physically and mentally fit before returning to their families and communities.
He also called on them to cooperate fully with the medical team.
Additionally, the Governor thanked President Bola Tinubu for his prompt response to the public outcry over the minors’ harsh bail conditions and charges, which ultimately led to their release.
Some parents expressed gratitude to President Tinubu, Governor Yusuf, and human rights activists for the safe return of their children.
