Nsit Ubium Local Government Area (LGA) in Akwa Ibom State recently celebrated a landmark event, as Governor Umo Eno commissioned a 9.76-kilometer road project in the area, earning praise and recognition from local residents who highlighted the historic significance of the development.
Governor Eno, a native of Nsit Ubium, has become the first governor in the state’s history to initiate and commission a project in the area, an act that residents view as an important acknowledgment of their community’s needs.
The newly inaugurated road, spanning from Ikot Eyo through Edem Idim Okpoto, Mbiekene, Nung Obong, and Ikot Ntung, and connecting to the East-West Road, is expected to transform access and stimulate growth within Nsit Ubium.
The infrastructure also establishes strategic links with three neighboring LGAs: Ibesikpo Asutan, Eket, and Esit Eket.
This interconnectedness is seen as a significant step toward fostering regional cooperation and enabling the efficient movement of goods and people between these areas.
During the commissioning, Governor Eno expressed his commitment to bringing more projects to Nsit Ubium, assuring residents that their community would not be overlooked in the state’s broader development agenda.
He emphasized the role of infrastructure in improving lives, boosting the local economy, and strengthening the social fabric of the community.
Professor Eno Ibanga, the state’s Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, described the road project as a transformative “game changer” for Nsit Ubium.
The Commissioner noted that the road would ease transportation challenges, open up the community to new economic opportunities, and serve as a catalyst for future projects that would further improve the quality of life for the people.
For residents of Nsit Ubium, the road symbolizes much more than just an infrastructure upgrade; it represents a long-awaited acknowledgment of their community’s importance and a shared hope for continued development under Governor Eno’s administration.
As the Governor continues his mission to bring development to every corner of Akwa Ibom, Nsit Ubium’s historic milestone underscores the potential impact of state-led projects on local communities.
