Mrs Betty Akeredolu, wife of Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, on Sunday, announced the suspension of activities scheduled to mark her forthcoming 70th birthday celebration.
Mrs Akeredolu made this announcement after some critics questioned the celebration plans amid the ill health of her husband.
The Ondo governor’s wife in a Twitter post on Sunday, announced that the birthday celebration had been suspended ‘due to unforeseen circumstances beyond my control’.
Her tweet read, “Hello Family and Friends. This is to inform you that all activities lined up to mark my 70th birthday are hereby suspended till further notice due to unforeseen circumstances beyond my control. Sorry for any inconvenience caused by this development.
“Nevertheless, be assured that I will be celebrated in style upon my return. Thank you for your understanding. I remain Arabinrin a.k.a Ada Owere I.”
In another Twitter post accompanied by a photo of her birthday flyer, she said as long as there is life, ‘Owambe’ (party) can come at any time.
Governor Akeredolu had assured the people of Ondo State that he was on the path to recovery and will return to office soon.
He embarked on a 21-day medical leave outside the shores of Nigeria on June 7, 2023.
The Governor transmitted power to his deputy Lucky Aiyedatiwa to act while away.
