CSKA Moscow coach, Viktor Goncharenko, has insisted that Chidera Ejuke is in contention to be named in their matchday squad for their next Russian Premier League clash against Rotor on Sunday, November 1.
Goncharenko claims the winger is expected to be fit but the fact is that he had to be replaced in the 75th minute of the goalless draw with Dinamo Zagreb in a Europa League game on Thursday after suffering an injury.
Though Ejuke was criticised for showboating, he was one of the most active CSKA Moscow players on the pitch against the Croatian opponents in the disappointing draw.
“With Ejuke, everything is fine – he will be ready for the next game. We are working with Chidera, adjusting his opening,” Goncharenko said.
“But it’s hard to work when you play every three days. Somewhere the technique fails, somewhere the rush, somewhere the goalkeeper plays successfully”.
Nigeria manager, Gernot Rohr, will be monitoring the fitness of Ejuke as he has been included in the latest Super Eagles squad for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone.
The 22-year-old made his senior debut off the bench in a 1-1 draw with Tunisia earlier this month.
