Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his faith in God as the ultimate liberator and protector of the state, citing divine intervention as pivotal to overcoming the political crises that recently threatened its stability.
Speaking during the Night of Christmas Ballad hosted by former Governor Dr. Peter Odili at his Old GRA residence in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara expressed gratitude for the support of Rivers people and credited God for the state’s triumph over adversity.
“The ultimate game-changer, the ultimate liberator, and the ultimate fighter remains God Almighty. Because we have Him on our side, victory is assured,” Fubara declared to a gathering of political leaders, dignitaries, and well-wishers.
The Governor noted that while the challenges were daunting, they provided a new perspective on leadership and reinforced his resolve to deliver progress for the state.
“My strength comes from the support of the true Rivers people,” he said. “You gave me encouragement, did the work, and made the calls. That’s why I stand strong for you.”
As Rivers State prepares for 2025, Governor Fubara assured citizens of a prosperous future, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to ensuring each year surpasses the last in achievements and quality of life.
The Christmas Ballad, organized by Dr. Peter Odili and his family, served as a platform for celebrating unity and resilience.
Dr. Odili reflected on the political battles faced by Governor Fubara, commending his fortitude in safeguarding the state’s interests against personal vendettas.
“Governor Fubara has successfully blended the leadership values instilled by this political family with his own, making Rivers people proud of his stewardship,” remarked Dr. Abiye Sekibo, former Minister of Transport.
Justice Mary Odili, in her address, described Fubara as an “emancipator” chosen by God to lead Rivers State through turbulent times.
She presented symbolic gifts to the Governor and his family as a gesture of solidarity and support.
Governor Fubara vowed to maintain a governance style rooted in humility and accountability, promising never to tarnish the state’s image.
“This is a shift job, and one day, another person will take over. What matters is keeping the machinery running smoothly for continued progress,” he said.
The event culminated in a vote of thanks delivered by Justice Adolphus Enebeli (rtd), Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), who lauded the Odilis for hosting the reunion and praised Governor Fubara for his leadership.
The Night of Christmas Ballad showcased the unity and resolve of Rivers State’s leaders and people, with the Governor reaffirming his commitment to steering the state towards greater prosperity under divine guidance.
