‘Go Hug a Transformer’: Wike to Critics of Role in Tinubu’s Govt

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has expressed his satisfaction with his role in President Bola Tinubu’s administration, despite being a prominent member of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Wike made these remarks on Saturday during the PDP Congress in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.

Wike, who is the only opposition figure in Tinubu’s cabinet, stated that he is unapologetic about his decision to work for the All Progressives Congress (APC) government. His appointment as FCT Minister has sparked significant debate, with many suggesting that it was a reward for his contributions to Tinubu’s success in Rivers State during the 2023 presidential election.

Addressing the criticisms surrounding his appointment, Wike asserted, “We are fully in government. We are fully in Tinubu’s government. I have no regrets about it, and I will continue to be there. Anybody who is angry should go and hug a transformer.”

The former Rivers State Governor emphasized that he has no regrets and is content with his position in the current administration.

Wike’s statement underscores his commitment to his role and his satisfaction with the direction of the Tinubu government, despite the backlash from his party.
