Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini will miss his team’s next two Serie A matches following a touchline ban for insulting officials during their 3-1 win against Parma on Saturday.
Serie A confirmed on Tuesday that the 66-year-old manager has been sanctioned for his outburst towards the fourth official, Luca Massimi, after receiving a red card in the 55th minute of the match at Ennio Tardini Stadium.
The ban, which only affects Serie A matches, means Gasperini will be absent for crucial fixtures against Roma and AC Milan, leaving his assistant to take charge from the sidelines.
Atalanta, who are currently second in Serie A, face a tough challenge on December 2 against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico, followed by a home clash with AC Milan in Bergamo on December 6.
While Gasperini will be sidelined in Serie A, he is still eligible to oversee Atalanta’s UEFA Champions League campaign.
The team will travel to Switzerland to face Young Boys at the Wankdorf Stadium on Tuesday, a match that could have significant implications for their European aspirations.
Atalanta will hope to maintain their strong form despite the managerial absence, with Gasperini’s leadership crucial in their push for both domestic and international success this season.
