Abdullahi Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), officially handed over the certificate of return to Nicholas Ukachukwu, naming him the party’s flagbearer for the upcoming Anambra governorship election.
This move came after the APC National Working Committee (NWC) ratified the outcome of the party’s primary election in the state.
The formal presentation took place on Wednesday during a meeting at the APC national secretariat in Abuja.
The primary election committee, headed by Cross River Governor Bassey Otu, presented a report confirming Ukachukwu’s victory.
Ukachukwu secured 1,455 votes, defeating his closest rival, Valentine Ozigbo, who garnered just 67 votes.
Ganduje expressed his appreciation to Governor Otu and his committee for overseeing a fair and transparent primary election process.

He also urged the party’s supporters and other aspirants to rally behind Ukachukwu as the party prepares for the general election.
Ukachukwu emerged as the winner of the APC’s primary held last Saturday, where he triumphed in a landslide victory, leaving behind other contenders, including Edozie Madu and Johnbosco Onunkwo, who secured 8 and 26 votes, respectively.
As the party shifts its focus to the general election scheduled for November 8, Ganduje called for unity within the party, stressing the importance of consolidating efforts to secure a win in the state.
