Fubara Accuses Opponents of Trying to Derail State Projects

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has alleged that certain detractors are attempting to obstruct his administration’s ongoing projects and governance efforts.

In a statement released on Monday, Governor Fubara emphasised that despite these distractions, his government remains committed to delivering essential services and quality infrastructure for Rivers residents.

During an inspection of the ongoing reconstruction of the Zonal Hospital in Omoku Town, located in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area, Fubara confirmed his administration’s dedication to completing the Bori and Omoku Zonal Hospitals by the end of 2024.

He stated, “I want you to know this afternoon of this reconfirmation of our commitment to Rivers people that, not minding the attacks, notwithstanding the boast by people who believe they don’t want this State to go forward, that they will be disappointed.

“That they want to make this State to be on fire so that we will be distracted from governance, we want to tell them, that while we face the fire, our eyes are on the ball.”

He further highlighted the administration’s focus on healthcare, education, agriculture, and infrastructure, calling these areas the “prime things” his administration is committed to delivering.

“This project, as part of what we promised our good people of Rivers State, will provide healthcare, education, and agriculture benefits to our people, no matter the circumstances we find ourselves,” he said.

Fubara also assessed the 33.5-kilometre Elele-Egbeda-Omoku dualised road, which connects Ikwerre, Emohua, and Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Areas and includes a river-crossing bridge.

He noted, “This project cuts across three local governments…I think the contractor is doing a very good job, notwithstanding the flood situation they are battling with.”

Expressing satisfaction with the hospital project, he praised the contractor for maintaining the quality standards, including facilities like a mortuary, laundry, and staff accommodation.
