Fresh Plateau Attack Death Toll Hits 51

The death toll in Monday’s attack on the Zike community, Kimakpa, Kwall district of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, has hit 51 with several houses razed.

The recent attack on the Zike community in the Kwall district of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State, has resulted in a tragic death toll of 51.

According to reports, numerous houses have been razed in the cause of the attack.

A community leader identified as Wakili Tongwe disclosed on Monday that the village was invaded by attackers who opened fire indiscriminately at residents who were trying to escape the chaos.

“The sounds of gunfire prompted panic as people rushed to find safety,” he said.

Describing the incident to newsmen, Tongwe said, “A team of vigilantes, including myself and some security personnel, were on patrol in another community when the attackers invaded the village and started shooting.”

Despite the efforts of the security personnel to confront the invaders and successfully drive them away, the toll was devastated.

Some other residents sustained gunshot wounds and are receiving medical attention at the hospital.

Security agencies in the state are yet to comment on the attack, which is coming less than two weeks after 52 persons were killed in some communities of the Bokkos Local Government Area of the North-Central state.
