Fire Erupts on Lagos Ferry, Four Passengers Injured

A fire incident on a Lagos State ferry left four passengers injured on Thursday morning at the Ipakodo Ferry Terminal in Ikorodu.

The vessel, identified as “Igbega Eko,” was carrying 19 passengers en route to Victoria Island when the fire broke out around 6:45 am.

The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) confirmed the incident in a statement, noting that the exact cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.

Emergency responders from LASWA, alongside LAGFERRY officials and other stakeholders, acted swiftly to contain the situation and ensure the safe evacuation of all passengers and crew members.

The four injured individuals were reported to have sustained minor injuries and are currently receiving medical attention.

Preliminary investigations into the cause of the fire are already underway, with LASWA promising a thorough assessment in collaboration with relevant authorities.
