Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) has warned that it may extend its ongoing strike indefinitely.
The union said this at its meeting in Abuja.
The union, which accused the Federal Government of lack of seriousness, however, said it would intimate Nigerians on the outcome of its meeting.
Recall that on Monday, February 14, 2022, ASUU had embarked on a four-week total and comprehensive warning strike following the breakdown of the negotiations between the union and the Federal Government on the demands of university lecturers.
ASUU’s demands include, among others, the release of revitalization funds for universities, renegotiation of the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement, release of earned allowances for university lecturers, and deployment of the UTAS payment platform for the payment of salaries and allowances of university lecturers.
At the expiration of the initial four-week warning strike, ASUU had declared another eight weeks, warning that it was giving Federal Government more time to meet its demands.
