The Federal Government has identified a Canada-based woman, Amaka Patience Sunnberger, who allegedly threatened to kill fellow Nigerians living in Canada.
The disclosure was made by Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.
In a video clip that has been circulating on X (formerly Twitter), a woman’s voice is heard making anti-Yoruba comments during what appears to be a virtual meeting on TikTok.
Speaking mainly in Pidgin English, the woman threatened to poison Yoruba and Benin people, expressing her desire to start “poisoning the Yoruba and the Benin.”
She further vowed to take poisonous substances to her workplace to carry out the act.
The woman justified her threats as a response to perceived “hate” against the Igbo people and urged others to join her in acts of violence.
“I want make Ndi Igbo get that heart of wickedness. Una too dey quiet. Enough is enough! If you have any means of kpaing them, kpai them commot for road,” she said, calling on her fellow Igbo to take action.
The woman claimed to be a resident of Ontario, Canada, and boldly dared anyone to report her to the Canadian authorities.
Abike Dabiri-Erewa confirmed the identity of the woman and stated that she had deleted her TikTok account. She also mentioned that a group of Nigerians in Canada are in the process of officially reporting Sunnberger to the relevant authorities in Canada.
The video has sparked outrage and concern among Nigerians both at home and abroad, leading to calls for swift action by Canadian law enforcement to address the threat.
