The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating insecurity across Nigeria, hailing the dedication of troops and introducing advanced air assets to strengthen ongoing operations.
Speaking during the induction of ATAK-129 helicopters into Operation Fansan Yamma Sector 2, the Minister of Defence commended the sacrifices made by Nigerian forces, highlighting recent successes in the fight against banditry and insecurity.
The Minister acknowledged the positive impact of military operations, noting significant milestones achieved in affected communities.
“Farmers are already returning to their farms, children are going back to school, businesses are growing and ordinary Nigerians can sleep in peace,” he stated.
These developments, he added, reflect the determination of the armed forces to secure the nation’s future.
Expressing gratitude to the troops, the Minister lauded their courage and willingness to leave behind their families and comforts to serve the nation.
“We salute you for the personal sacrifice you have been making, leaving behind your families and comfort of your homes to secure our collective future,” he said.
“We are grateful, we will remain committed to provide you and your families the necessary resources in ensuring that you receive the best incentives and other benefits.”
The induction of the ATAK-129 helicopters is set to revolutionize counterinsurgency operations.
The Minister described the helicopters as having unmatched speed, reach, and precision, ensuring that no enemy can escape justice.
“The unique set of the air components deployed, has capacity, it speeds, reaches, precision to ensure that no enemy can hide from justice,” he emphasized. “And the long arm of the law will reach those who want to destroy our peace.”
He also urged the military to “synergize with ground forces and other stakeholders to ensure maximum effect,” stressing that synergy is key to achieving a safer and stronger Nigeria.
Highlighting recent achievements, the Minister revealed that several bandit hideouts have been destroyed within the last week due to the deployment of advanced military platforms.
“I am satisfied with the recent efforts made by the troops.
We have seen tremendous success in the last one week where several Bandits’ hideouts were destroyed as a result of various platforms deployed.
And if this continues we will finish banditry soon,” he said, expressing optimism that these actions will lead to the eradication of banditry in the near future.
The Minister appealed for maximum cooperation, intelligence sharing, and prayers from citizens, stressing the importance of collective efforts in defeating the enemies of peace.
“The end is near. We need maximum cooperation, intelligence and prayers from the public,” he noted. “Together, we will dominate the battle space and achieve successful results.”
The Federal Government reiterated its readiness to support troops and their families, ensuring the continuity of this campaign against insecurity until the country is fully secure.
