FCT Police Launch All-Out War Against ‘One Chance’ Criminal Gangs

The FCT Police Command has declared an all-out offensive against the menace of ‘one chance’ criminals and car snatchers terrorizing Abuja residents.

In a statement released on the 26th of November, 2024, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, revealed a comprehensive strategy involving the deployment of additional personnel, advanced equipment, and intensified patrols across the territory.

The initiative also includes targeted stop-and-search operations and enhanced surveillance to curb the alarming rise in these crimes.

“The initiative aims to combat rising incidents of ‘one chance’ crimes and car theft,” she explained, emphasizing that vehicles without proper registration those lacking number plates, displaying only one plate, or using defaced plates will be promptly impounded.

SP Adeh further noted that the enforcement of regulations on covered number plates and tinted glasses will also be prioritized.

“While these operations may cause some inconvenience, they underscore our unwavering commitment to the safety of all FCT residents and our resolve to deter criminal activities targeting motorists and passengers,” she stated.

She highlighted the success of these measures so far, noting the recovery of stolen vehicles and the arrest of several ‘one chance’ robbers.

“We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during these operations and advise vehicle owners to ensure compliance with all regulations,” the statement continued.

Reassuring residents, the Police Command pledged its dedication to maintaining a secure environment while urging everyone to report suspicious activities and support law enforcement efforts. “Your safety is our priority,” the statement concluded.
