…says science is the bedrock of development in all facets of lives
Former Vice President of Nigeria, His Excellency Arch Namadi Sambo, has described Science as the bedrock of development in all facets of life.
The People’s Democratic Party stakeholder said this when he played the role of Chairman of the occasion during a book Launch and Presentation on the Fundamentals of Geoscience authored by Professor Matoh Dogara Dari.
Sambo, who was represented by Sani Sidi, former Executive Secretary of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), praised the author of the book, Professor Dogara for bringing what will bridge the gap between Geoscience and Social Sciences.
According to him, Dari is a man with multiple talents and authored a book that will bring about human development to the benefit of all those seeking knowledge for humanity.
The book, which attempts to bridge the existing gaps of modern science and Geoscience, Namadi said will be useful to our dear nation.
Namadi eulogises Matoh as an astute and seasoned Administrator who was part of his cabinet member while the executive Governor of Kaduna state.
“Math is a talent and a huge asset to our dear nation, I’m proud of his academic prowess and astuteness to authored a book that will be an idea of development in the field of geoscience,” Sambo said.
The book presentation which took place at the National Merit Award Center, Maitama Abuja brought together eminent politicians, sons, and daughters of Kaduna State and extolled Dogara as a pride to not only Kaduna stayte but the country at large.
The chief host, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, represented by his Commissioner for Internal and Home Affairs, Hon Samuel Aruwa, in his remarks said Matoh is a courageous Nigeria and proud son of Kaduna State.
Nasir said the Professor of Geoscience has broken the camel’s back with a piece as a novelty of science that will be good for researchers and science scholars.
He recalled when Dari was actively in public service as a Lecturer at Ahmadu Bello University, a commissioner of technology and energy, and a principal officer (deputy speaker) in the Kaduna State House of Assembly.
Having started as a grassroots politician and became the sole administrator of Lere and Kubau Local Government chairman.
“We are with you, you have made the mark and earned the respect of many Nigerians to have come out with this brilliant idea and masterwork of science,” Nasir said.
It was a standing ovation when Professor H O Aboh with a velvet voice of an erudite Academic read the citation in honour of Professor Dari, who extolled him as Nigeria’s black scientist in Geoscience and Political Science.
He gave a narration of how Matoh journeyed down to the life of stardom as a young man from a remote village of Garun Kurama, Lere Local Government area of Kaduna State, where he started his primary.
According to Aboh, the rest is today the history of the star-making of a boy born with scientific acumen.
Aboh cited that the prolific writer has many academic scholarly works published within and outside Nigeria journals on geoscience.
The Senator Representing Kaduna Central and the flagbearer of All Progressives Congress, Mallam Uba Sani; Wife to the former governor of Kaduna State, Amina Yakowa; House of Representatives member representing Lere Federal constituency, Hon Engr Mannir Ahmed; the Chief of Kudaru, His Royal Highness Yakubu Iliya Sauri, academic and none academic staff of Kaduna State are some of the people who graced the occasion.
