Ex-Gov Obaseki Embarks on Medical Vacation

The immediate past governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has begun what he described as a “post-tenure vacation.”

According to Obaseki, the time off will enable him to “rest and undergo extended medical checks.”

This information was revealed by the former governor’s spokesman, Crusoe Osagie, through a statement on the 13th of November, 2024.

Osagie stated that Obaseki “once again expressed his appreciation to God Almighty and the people of Edo State and Nigeria for the opportunity to serve.”

Obaseki further encouraged all Edo people, both “at home and in the diaspora,” to “continue to be hopeful and pray for the peace, progress, and prosperity of our state and Nigeria.”

Obaseki completed his two-term tenure of eight years on the 11th of November,2024, after handing over to Monday Okpebholo.

Okpebholo, who defeated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party, was sworn in as the new governor of Edo State on the 12th of November, 2024.
