Amnesty International, on Wednesday, warned the police in the Lagos to stop arresting protesters at the Lekki toll gate plaza venue of the ongoing memorial protest.
AI, on its Twitter page on Wednesday morning, wrote, “Lagos: stop arresting protesters. Lagos: stop arresting protesters. Lagos: stop arresting protesters. Lagos: stop arresting protesters. Lagos: stop arresting protesters.”
The protesters had besieged Lekki tollgate in a car procession to commemorate the alleged killings of some Nigerians one year ago.
But police had earlier arrested some of the protesters at the tollgate.
Recall that a journalist working with Legit TV, simply identified as Abimbola, was earlier arrested by the police at the tollgate and detained in a Black Maria.
The police also arrested a man, who wrapped himself in white cloth and carried a placard with an #EndSARS inscription.
