…defeats them in their polling units
Social Democratic Party governorship candidate in Ekiti, Segun Oni, defeated two lawmakers elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress when he polled the highest number of votes cast in their polling units.
But sorting and counting of votes have continued across polling units in the various Local Government Areas of the state.
From results released by presiding officers of the Independent National Electoral Commission on Saturday, SDP’s Oni polled 253 votes at polling unit 3, ward 1, Ido Osi LGA, the polling unit of the APC senator representing Ekiti North, Olubunmi Adetunmbi.
Oni also won the polling unit of the APC lawmaker representing Emure/Gbonyin/Ekiti-East in the House of Representatives, Richard Bamisile.
At Bamisile’s polling unit 5, ward 5, Ekiti-East LGA, the SDP polled 87 votes against APC’s 74 votes and PDP’s 63 votes.
The SDP candidate also won his polling unit in ward 2, Ido-Osi LGA, polling 218 votes.
The just-concluded Ekiti governorship election was conducted in the 16 local government areas of the state with 16 governorship candidates vying for the number one political office.
