…deploys them in different towns
The Segun Oni Campaign Organization has raised the alarm over the importation of thugs and fake military personnel into the state by the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The fake military personnel and thugs are located in some major towns and villages like Ilupeju Ekiti, Otun Ekiti, Ilogbo Ekiti, Oke Ayedun, Ijero , Okemesi Ekiti and so on, SOCO said.
In a statement made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, the Director of Media and Publicity, Segun Oni Campaign Organization, Mr. Jackson Adebayo, pointed out that a meeting of all the chairmen of local government as well as Local Council Development Authority was held last week where the message was allegedly passed to them that they would be receiving the fake military men and thugs by this week, in preparation for the June 18 governorship election in the state.
Adebayo explained further that the council chairmen were equally directed to provide materials that would make the thugs comfortable, including toiletries, at the hideout where the thugs and fake military men are kept.
He narrated how a memo was raised in Oye Local Government for the council chairman to contact the Ilupeju Ekiti Development Union for the release of the town’s civic centre for about thirty ‘shoulders’ who are to operate in Oye and it’s environs, saying that such arrangements was also made in Otun Ekiti, where a landlord on Otun – Omuaran road was contacted to release his building for the housing of the fake army and thugs.
Adebayo added that it’s only in Ijero areas where they’ve been arguing whether to house them in Ara Ekiti or Ikoro Ekiti, but the fear of one Kayode Ojo has made them to be rejecting Ikoro Ekiti as an option.
According to SOCO, the first assignment given to the council chairmen is to be using the thugs in unleashing mayhem in their various locations while it is basically instructed that leaders of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) should be their target.
The organisation expressed it’s disappointment in the government of Ekiti State and the ruling party for embarking on this dastardly and unholy strategy in an election that they will lose, maintaining that it’s very sad that the government was just deliberately creating insecurity in an already volatile state.
The statement reads, “We call on our traditional rulers to as a matter of urgency call the leaders of the All Progressive Congress in their areas to order before they destroy the peace of their community in the name of politics.
“SOCO equally call on the Chief of Army Staff to investigate the involvement of some Army personnel, who have been contracted to provide cover for the fake soldiers and thugs.
“We want to state emphatically that this is not a rumor that these council chairmen are seen at their areas in the last three days with military men in their vehicles in a move that suggested that they are being shown the nooks and crannies of the communities in their areas for the proposed operations.
“It would be recalled that it was the military that the leadership of APC used to detain one of our leaders at Ayetoro Ekiti while the all the request and effort to secure his release have proved abortive since.”
