Nigeria’s interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen, has expressed confidence ahead of the Super Eagles’ 2025 AFCON qualifier against Rwanda, set to take place in Kigali on Tuesday at 2:00 PM.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Eguavoen emphasized the team’s determination to secure a win.

“We are here to get the result, and yes, we respect our opponent,” Eguavoen stated.

“We have quality players who can play in different styles and formations. So, whatever style and formation Rwanda comes with tomorrow, our players will be able to deal with it.”

The Super Eagles, fresh off a commanding 3-0 victory against Benin Republic in Uyo on Saturday, are looking to continue their impressive form with another win away from home.

Eguavoen’s team is determined to secure maximum points in the AFCON qualifiers as they push toward a spot in the 2025 tournament.

Eguavoen further stressed the importance of maintaining focus and respect for their opponents.

“It didn’t matter who we played; we have to win. We play them with respect, but we will get the result. They respect us, and we respect them as well. You don’t look down on people these days, football has improved. When you look down on people, you’ll be shocked.”

The coach also highlighted the challenges that come with being a top footballing nation like Nigeria, noting that opponents always raise their game when facing the Super Eagles.

“Remember, any country that wants to play against Nigeria always prepares themselves, so we have to be ready as well.”

With the match against Rwanda fast approaching, Nigerian fans will be hopeful that the Super Eagles can continue their strong form and secure another vital victory on the road to AFCON 2025 qualification.
