Edo Queens Fall to TP Mazembe in Women’s Champions League Semi-Final

Edo Queens’ journey in the CAF Women’s Champions League came to a heartbreaking end as they fell 3-1 to TP Mazembe in the semi-final play-off on Tuesday.

The match, played at the Stade Larbi Zaouli Casablanca, showcased high intensity and drama as both teams battled fiercely for a spot in the final.

The first half ended goalless, with both teams showing promise in attack but failing to convert their chances.

Edo Queens impressed with a solid defensive performance, keeping the Mazembe attack at bay while maintaining stability in midfield.

The game’s tempo heightened in the second half when Essien E. broke the deadlock for Edo Queens in the 65th minute with a well-taken goal.

The Queens held on to their lead until the 90th minute when Mazembe’s Kanjinga M. struck a late equalizer, forcing the game into extra time.

In the additional 30 minutes, TP Mazembe capitalized on Edo Queens’ misfortunes.

Folorusho C.’s own goal in the 101st minute gave Mazembe the advantage, and Yav Kasaj M. sealed the victory with a penalty in the third minute of added time in the first half of extra time.

The 3-1 result dashed Edo Queens’ hopes of reaching their first-ever CAF Women’s Champions League final.

Despite the loss, the Queens can hold their heads high for their spirited performance in the tournament.

TP Mazembe will advance to the final, while
Edo Queens will now focus on the bronze medal match, having lost to TP Mazembe in the semifinals of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
