Edo 2024: I’ll Give Interest-Free Loans If I Win, Okpebholo Tells Traders

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has promised to provide interest-free loans to traders if elected as governor on September 21.

Okpebholo made this pledge on Thursday while campaigning at Cook Road, Benin City, where he addressed members of the New Building Materials Sellers Association. He also promised to assist the traders in constructing a secretariat on the land donated to them by the late Oba of Benin, Oba Erediauwa II.

“Traders are very important in the development of the economy because of the kind of businesses they do,” Okpebholo said.

“Any money invested in traders’ welfare is not lost. So, I will fulfill my promise of giving interest-free loans immediately when I become the governor. I am coming to work for Edo people and not to mismanage their funds. Vote APC on September 21 and you will benefit from the programme we have lined up for the residents of the state.”

The Director General of the APC Campaign Council, Matthew Urhoghide, who accompanied Okpebholo, emphasized the candidate’s commitment to improving the lives of Edo citizens. He noted that Okpebholo’s promises are genuine and that he has a clear vision for the state.

The President of the New Building Materials Sellers Association, Nonso Ibeh, expressed confidence in Okpebholo, recalling the support the association received from Senator Urhoghide during his previous election campaigns. Ibeh also appealed to the APC candidate to assist in building the association’s secretariat.

Later in his campaign, Okpebholo addressed residents of Idumu Ewase Community in Benin, urging them not to vote for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), warning that the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo, would follow in the footsteps of his “godfather,” Governor Obaseki.

“Vote for APC on September 21 and I will make sure I deliver dividends of democracy,” Okpebholo assured the residents.
