A former Nigerian Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd.), has cautioned President Muhammadu Buhari against a purported plan by his government to increase the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) also known as petrol to N302 per litre.
He said that Buhari should discard the idea if his administration has no intention to make more Nigerians poor.
FirstNews had earlier reported of alleged plans by the Nigerian government to increase the price of petrol to N302 per litre in February 2022.
It was learnt that the move was part of the recommendations of the National Economic Council (NEC) to the government.
However, Abdusalami, who spoke during the 19th Daily Trust Dialogue in Abuja, cautioned against such a move.
According to him, the Buhari-led government should abandon the idea.
