A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Fred Agbedi, says the recent reconciliation between Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State and former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Timi Alaibe, is long overdue.
Agbedi said it was the prayer of many people that Governor Diri and Alaibe would put their political differences aside for the sake of peace, unity and the development of Bayelsa State.
He noted that Alaibe had a lot to offer Bayelsa, and by accepting to reconcile with the governor, he had demonstrated his disposition that politics is not a do-or-die affair.
“It was long expected. The governor himself has made a lot of efforts to be sure that they come together in building his government and Bayelsa and we are all happy to see this realised,” he said.
The lawmaker, who represents Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency, thanked all those who facilitated the peace initiative between both men and called on all those who have the state at heart to follow the same path by thinking of collective rather than individual interests.
“I congratulate the governor and Chief Timi Alaibe as well. I also congratulate Governor Wike and others, from Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, like Engr. Gesi Asamaowei, Olice Kemenanabo and others, including King AJ Turner, and all of them, who have worked tirelessly to ensure this unity was realised, which is good for Bayelsa. It’s good for the Prosperity Government. Its good for development and progress of our state,” Agbedi added.
