Following the surrender of HRM Clement Ikolo, the Ovie of Ewu Kingdom in Delta State, to the Police in Asaba, the Army has taken swift action, flying the monarch to Abuja.
The Delta State Police Command handed over the king at Okuama on Friday morning, amidst heightened tensions surrounding the recent killing of 17 soldiers.
The Defence Headquarters in Abuja had earlier declared the monarch wanted, along with seven others, in connection to the tragic incident.
In a coordinated effort, the Commanding Officer of the 63 Brigade, Nigeria Army, Asaba, along with the Delta State Police Commissioner and other senior military officers, escorted the monarch to the Asaba International Airport.
Boarding an Air Peace aircraft, the king departed from the Asaba Airport tarmac at approximately 9:10 a.m. en route to Abuja.
This development underscores the gravity of the situation and the determination of authorities to ensure a thorough investigation into the killings, as well as to uphold justice and security in the region.
