In a renewed show of strength and commitment to public safety, the Nigeria Police Force has recorded major breakthroughs in its fight against criminality, with the successful neutralization of seven suspected kidnappers, arrest of five armed robbery suspects, and recovery of firearms and stolen vehicles in Delta and Kaduna States.
Police spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi stated this in a statement on Monday.
He said that on Tuesday, June 4, 2025, operatives of the Delta State Police Command, working closely with local vigilantes and anti-cult volunteers, acted on credible intelligence to intercept suspected kidnappers along the Abraka Railway axis. A fierce gun battle ensued, resulting in the neutralization of four suspects. During the operation, police recovered one AK-47 rifle and 13 rounds of live ammunition.
In a separate operation along the Ughelli-Patani Road, the Delta State CP-Special Assignment Team flagged down a shuttle bus near Ewhereni Junction. The occupants opened fire in an attempt to flee, leading to another shootout. Three suspected kidnappers were neutralized, and one AK-47 rifle loaded with 18 rounds of ammunition was recovered. Preliminary findings linked the suspects to a notorious kidnapping gang that has long plagued the region.
Meanwhile, in Kaduna State, police operatives have arrested five members of a dangerous armed robbery syndicate responsible for several high-profile car thefts and violent attacks. The suspects’ trail began with the theft of a Toyota Hilux from the Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja on May 28, 2025. One of the suspects, Mohammed Kabir from Zamfara State, was arrested after a high-speed chase near Zaria town.

Further investigations led to the recovery of a Toyota Camry abandoned near the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway, a Honda CR-V stolen from Abuja, and another Toyota Camry (1998 model) stolen from Nasarawa State. Three suspects—Ibrahim Bala, Abdulsalam Abdullahi, and Abdulraman Muktar—have confessed to the crime.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, lauded the swift and coordinated efforts of the officers involved. He emphasized that these successes demonstrate the power of intelligence-led policing and the critical role community collaboration plays in combating crime.
He urged the public to continue supporting the Police with timely and actionable information to help maintain peace and security across the country.
