DeeOne Claims Only Three Ex-BBNaija Housemates Remain Relevant

Former Big Brother Naija housemate and comedian, DeeOne, has stirred up controversy with his latest remarks, boldly asserting that only three ex-housemates—himself, TV host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, and actress Bisola Aiyeola—have remained relevant in the entertainment industry.

In a video posted on his TikTok page, DeeOne questioned the impact of the reality show on contestants’ careers, suggesting that while some, like Erica and Laycon, were thriving before their participation, they seemingly hit a standstill afterward.

“In the history of Big Brother Naija, only three of us (housemates)are still relevant today: DeeOne, Ebuka, and Bisola. After the three of us, who else?” he stated. “This is not to say that the rest are not working. We have over 150 ex-housemates. How many are relevant? I’m not talking about making money. Everyone is making money. We are talking about relevancy. Let’s be realistic. You might not like it, but it’s the truth.”

Raising a thought-provoking question, he continued, “Is Big Brother a curse or a blessing?” He pointed to Erica, who was an actress before joining the show but, according to him, experienced a career slowdown afterward.

Similarly, he cited Teddy A, who once toured Africa with his music but, in DeeOne’s words, saw his career “slip” post-BBNaija.

“I’m not talking about people who didn’t have much going for them before the show; I’m talking about people who were working,” he emphasized.

“Most of us went into the Big Brother Naija house in pursuit of fame, not even the prize money. But when you come out, it’s ten times more difficult.”

His statement has sparked mixed reactions online, with some agreeing with his perspective, while others argue that success is subjective. Do you think Big Brother Naija is a stepping stone or a stumbling block for its housemates?
