The spotlight shines brightly on Abuja as the 2024 African Military Games (AMGA) kick off today with a star-studded opening ceremony.
Nigerian music icons D’banj, Olamide, Yemi Alade, and Timi Dakolo are set to electrify the stage with unforgettable performances that promise to set the tone for this prestigious event.
In a statement on X, the Nigerian Army teased the excitement, writing: “The stage is set, and the legends are coming for the opening ceremony of #AMGA2024. Watch @Olamide, @iamdbanj, @yemialadee, and @timidakolo light up the opening ceremony like never before. It’s happening tomorrow, 20th November 2024.”
This second edition of the African Military Games brings together 25 nations, competing in 19 thrilling sports.
The Moshood Abiola Stadium will host most of the events, while obstacle crossing and shooting take place at separate venues.
Organized by the Organization of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA) and the International Military Sports Council (CISM), AMGA 2024 celebrates the unity and strength of Africa’s armed forces through sportsmanship and culture.
The performing artists are no strangers to grandeur.
Recall that D’banj brought his charisma to the closing ceremony of the 2013 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in South Africa, where the Super Eagles emerged victorious.
Meanwhile, Yemi Alade lent her golden voice to the soundtrack and opening ceremony of the last AFCON in Ivory Coast.
As the countdown ends, anticipation soars for an opening night filled with music, culture, and a powerful display of athletic excellence.
