Dangote Refinery Begins Petrol Loading as NNPC Deploys Fleet of Trucks

The Dangote Refinery, located in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, commenced the loading of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, on Sunday.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPC) mobilized a fleet of trucks to the refinery to facilitate the transportation of the fuel.

In a video shared on the Dangote Group’s X (formerly Twitter) handle, the first set of trucks was seen preparing for the loading of PMS.

The group’s tweet read, “First set of trucks set for loading of PMS at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.”

The NNPC, through a tweet on Saturday, had announced the deployment of hundreds of trucks to the refinery ahead of the scheduled loading.

“In preparation for the Dangote Refinery’s scheduled petrol loading on Sunday, 15th September 2024, NNPC Ltd has been mobilising trucks to the refinery’s fuel loading gantry in Ibeju-Lekki,” the tweet read.

As of Saturday afternoon, the national oil company confirmed that over 100 trucks had already been deployed, with many more on the way to support the large-scale distribution of fuel across the country.

This development marks a significant milestone for the Dangote Refinery, which is expected to play a major role in reducing Nigeria’s dependence on fuel imports and stabilizing the local fuel market.
