Crush Terrorists Without Mercy, Army Chief Orders Troops at Maiduguri Conference

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, delivered a firm directive on the 23rd of May, 2025, commanding officers and soldiers must crush terrorists without mercy.

He spoke at the closing of the COAS Bi-annual Conference held in Maiduguri, where top army generals spent three days strategizing on securing national peace and safety.

“Ladies and gentlemen, there is no contesting our decision to completely neutralise these detractors to peace,” Oluyede declared.

He went further: “Thus, I charge each and every officer and soldier to spare no quarter in running these terrorists and criminals to the ground.

They seek to disrupt our way of life and destroy the society that our forefathers built. We will not allow such to happen.”

The COAS emphasized that every strategic move from the conference must be adopted to meet its goals.

“In the coming weeks, we will induct more combat enablers into our operations,” he said.

Yet, he stressed the true power of the Nigerian Army lies not just in weapons but in the will of the soldiers who wield them.

“Everyone here must show exemplary leadership, mentor soldiers, and guide the next generation on the right path.”

He acknowledged the serious threat facing Nigeria’s social and cultural fabric.

“The depth of our discussions and clarity of thought during this conference reflect the strategic foresight needed to lead the Nigerian Army into a future filled with new challenges and possibilities.”

Oluyede concluded with confidence:

“The objectives of this first Bi Annual conference have largely been achieved, exceeding my expectations. Concerted efforts will be made to implement these measures in our current and future missions.”
