A High Court sitting in Ibadan on Friday ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to pay Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, N20 billion for his properties vandalised on July 1.
FirstNews had reported that DSS operatives stormed Igboho’s house in the early hours of July 1 and allegedly damaged some of his properties, killed some of his aides and arrested no fewer than 12 others.
Justice Ladiran Akintola gave the order while delivering judgment in the suit filed by Igboho against the DSS, where he demanded N500 billion as damages.
According to the court, the raid carried out was not supported by the law. It also criticised the DSS for “arbitrary aggression and prejudices”.
Meanwhile, some of the aides of Igboho, who were arrested in the raid have been released by the DSS after a court ruling granted them bail.
