Team Nigeria have continued their impressive outing at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England as more athletes made podium finish and smashed world records on Thursday.
In Discus, Goodness Nwachukwu won the gold medal after she threw 34.84m to break her own world record. Nwachukwu held the previous record with 33.35m which she achieved on March 20 in South Africa.
Folashade Oluwafemiayo clinched the gold medal for Nigeria in the women’s heavyweight powerlifting event and broke the world record after lifting 130kg, 150kg and 155kg to score a cumulative 123.4 points on Thursday evening.
Bose Omolayo finished second in the same event behind her compatriot after lifting 145kg to score 115.2 points for a silver medal.
