Many community leaders, Muslim clerics and faithfuls living within and around the community where present during the church service.
Community leaders who attended the Sunday Service include, the District Head of Barnawa, Alhaji Kabiru Zubairu, the Wakilin Shehu Borno, HRH Bata Madaki Auta and Sarkin Dutse Alhaji Shuaibu Balarebe Abdullahi among others.
Among the Islamic clerics who honoured the invitation and shared their thoughts on peaceful and religious coexistence were Sheikh Dahiru Abdullahi, Sheikh Dr. Hamisu Ya’u and Sheikh Shehu Ayotola.
In their speeches, they unanimously agreed that there is no basis whatsoever why Christians and Muslims should fight instead of being each other’s keepers.
According to them, “You cannot be said to be a good Muslim if you don’t like your Christain neighbours and vice versa”.
The Senior Pastor for the church, Reverend Joshua Anyam said that there was need for continuous engagement and peaceful coexistence among adherents of different religious beliefs in the country.
Anyam appealed to Christians and Muslims to work towards forging a common goal against the enemy of unity in the country.
“We must understand, respect and protect our differences rather than allow division because all of us are facing similar challenges in our various groups or religions.” he said.
In his remark, the Executive Secretary Sultan Bello mosque and Chief Imam Sadauna mosque Kawo, Sheik Hamisu Ya’u called on religious leaders not to allow politicians to bring politics to the mosque or church.
Sheik Ya’u said adherents of both religions must respect one another and consider the humanity of each other first, rather than bringing to the fore the religion they practice, considering that they were created by the same God.
He admitted that only the devil is the enemy of all religions, hence the need for unity to fight the common enemy, adding that without peace there will be no form of development.
