Militants of Ambazonia, a separatist group in South West Cameroon, on Sunday, invaded a part of Nigeria, killing no fewer than 20 people in a community in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The incident was confirmed by a former member of the Cross River State House of Assembly and an aspirant of House of Reps for Boki/Ikom federal constituency,Chief Cletus Obun.
Obun said the incident occurred on Sunday morning.
According to him, “I can confirm that the Ambazonian soldiers crossed the Nigerian border Sunday morning to attack their compatriots who fled into Nigeria and refused to join their forces to fight.
“They killed nearly 20. No one is sure yet if amongst those killed, there are Nigerian citizens.”
The former lawmaker added that the remaining Cameroonians speaking Bokye language of Boki people have now flooded Bashu community, near Danare, where a battalion of Nigerian troops is stationed.

Ambazonian militants frequent Boki, where a many Cameroonians are resident.
Commenting on the incident, Information Officer of 13 Brigade of the Nigerian Army Calabar, Captain Tope Aluko, said they had yet to confirm Sunday’s attack by the Cameroonian militants.
Recall that six months ago, a similar incident occurred in Taraba State.
The Cameroonian militants had reportedly gunned down residents of Manga community in the state.
They also burnt separatists down the village.
