Nigerian clubs have been handed a tricky draw on their qualification route to the group stage of the 2022/2023 CAF Champions League at the draw held on Tuesday.
NPFL Champions Rivers United will face Watanga FC of Liberia in a two-legged encounter.
Rivers United could not make it out of the qualification round in their last outing but will hope to bet on their luck to push past their opposition.
Watanga FC who are no pushovers are Liberia’s defending champions but Rivers United are favourites to advance to the next round where they will face the Champions League defending champions Wydad Casablanca.
On the other hand, Plateau United, which finished second in the NPFL will face AS Mandji of Gabon; the winner in the two legs encounter, will battle Tunisian club, Esperance du Tunis, for a spot in the group stage.
