CAF Announces Draw for 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the draw for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League will take place on Friday, October 18, at the Complex Mohamed VI in Salé, Morocco.

The event, scheduled for 12pm local time (12pm Nigerian time), will be streamed live on CAF’s digital platforms, including YouTube, and on partner networks.

CAF earlier announced that the 2024 edition of the tournament will be hosted in Morocco, the same country that staged the 2022 competition.

Fatiha Laasiri, a former Morocco and ASFAR player and the current Assistant Coach for Morocco’s U23 Women’s National Team, will assist with the draw, which promises to set the tone for what is expected to be an exciting tournament.

The fourth edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League will feature eight teams, including five debutants: Nigeria’s Edo Queens, Aigles de la Medina from Senegal, the University of the Western Cape (South Africa), Egypt’s Tutankhamun, and Ethiopia’s CBE FC.

Joining them are two-time winners and defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, 2022 champions ASFAR of Morocco, and TP Mazembe from DR Congo, who return to the competition after missing last year’s edition.

The tournament will take place from November 9 to 23, with the champions set to pocket a record-breaking prize of USD 400,000, while the runners-up will receive USD 250,000.

The 2024 edition promises high-octane action as teams battle for continental glory in what has become Africa’s premier women’s club football competition.
