…says ‘don’t allow heartless bandits distract you from your studies’
President Muhammadu Buhari has met with the rescued students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, in Katsina State, begging them to return to school to continue their education.
He urged them not to be distracted from their studies by the actions of “heartless bandits.”
About 344 schoolboys were kidnapped by suspected bandits on Friday, December 11, released on Thursday, December 17 in Zamfara State and taken to Katsina State on Friday morning under heavy security.
Buhari, who met with the rescued but distraught students at the banquet hall of the Government House in Katsina, enjoined them to put behind them their harrowing experience in the hands of their abductors and not allow that to distract them from their studies.
Addressing the students, who had now freshened up and dressed in neat clothes, in Hausa language, the President said that what they went through this past one week should not discourage them from attaining their educational goals.
He assured the schoolboys of their security as they go back to GSSS Kankara.
The President told the schoolboys, “Please, return to school to continue your education. Don’t let your experience discourage or stop you from going back to school.
“You students are very lucky. Concentrate on your studies. Don’t allow your terrible experiences in the hands of those heartless bandits distract you from your studies.
“Put behind all the suffering and concentrate on your studies.
