BUA Group Donates N2bn to Support Flood Victims in Borno

In response to the recent floods that have devastated Maiduguri, BUA Group, one of Nigeria’s largest conglomerates, has pledged a donation of N2 billion to aid recovery efforts in Borno State.

The donation, which comprises N1 billion in cash and another N1 billion in essential food supplies, is aimed at alleviating the suffering of displaced individuals and communities affected by the disaster.

This contribution comes after President Bola Tinubu’s call to the private sector to support flood recovery efforts across Nigeria.

Abdul Samad Rabiu, Chairman of BUA Group and founder of ASR Africa, announced the donation during a visit to Maiduguri, emphasizing the company’s commitment to standing with Nigerians in times of need.

“The recent flooding in Maiduguri has caused untold hardship for thousands of families. At BUA, we believe it is our responsibility, as an organisation deeply rooted in the fabric of Nigerian society, to act swiftly and meaningfully in providing relief to those affected. Our N2 billion donation to the victims of the recent flooding in Borno is our own way of supporting the most vulnerable in times of crisis,” Rabiu stated.

The N1 billion worth of food supplies includes essentials such as flour, pasta, sugar, and rice. These items will be distributed to the worst-hit areas, providing immediate relief to the affected populations. The additional N1 billion in cash was presented to the Borno State government to ensure swift distribution of aid to those in need.

BUA Group, through its philanthropic arm, the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa), has consistently shown a commitment to supporting communities, particularly in times of crisis. This donation is part of a broader effort by the company to assist in the recovery and rebuilding efforts across Nigeria’s flood-affected regions.

Rabiu also called on other corporate organisations and individuals to join in the recovery efforts, saying, “Our thoughts are with the families and individuals who have been affected by this disaster. As we continue to extend our support, we urge other corporate organisations and well-meaning individuals to join us in this effort to restore hope and rebuild lives.”

BUA Group’s collaboration with government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders will ensure the provision of necessary resources to help the people of Maiduguri recover and rebuild after the disaster.
