Bribery Scandal: Bobrisky Sues VeryDarkMan, Demands N1bn in Damages

Nigerian social media personality and cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has filed a lawsuit against internet activist and influencer, Martins Otse, alias VeryDarkMan (VDM), seeking N1 billion in damages.

The legal battle comes after VDM publicly accused Bobrisky of bribing officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to dismiss a money laundering charge against him.

VDM had shared a voice recording, allegedly of Bobrisky, claiming to have paid N15 million to the EFCC to drop the charges. In response, Bobrisky vehemently denied the allegations, stating that the recordings were artificially generated using AI technology to frame him.

The social media influencer has since taken legal action, demanding N1 billion as compensation and requiring VDM to issue a public apology within 24 hours, both in writing and through a video recording.

Bobrisky shared the legal documents on his social media account, where his lawyers emphasized that the allegations were false and damaging to his reputation.

The scandal has now drawn the attention of Nigeria’s legislative body. The House of Representatives has launched a formal investigation into the bribery allegations involving both the EFCC and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS), prompted by claims that Bobrisky did not serve his sentence in prison after being convicted of defacing the naira.
