Nigeria has partnered Creative Youth Community Development Initiative -Solution17 for Climate Action, the Lagos State Government and the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Nigeria to implement Trees From Art in Lagos State.
The partnership was in response to the call made by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the launch of the initiative earlier this year with stakeholders, environmentalists and young persons to support the state and make the environment green, habitable and safe.
Reacting to the development, the Managing Director of Bosch in Nigeria, Mr Ghislain Nounbessy, stated that climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing humanity and stopping it is a task for the society at large.
According to him, at Bosch, “we play a pioneering role in climate action, and we are committed to Carbon Neutrality and have left no carbon footprint. We achieve this using more green energy, investment in a new clean power source, offsetting where necessary and developing innovative solutions to improve our energy efficiency.
“Bosch is committed to Innovation and the Future of Our planet; this is why we are excited about Trees From Art and the Comprehensive Technology System that will support the project throughout its life cycle”.
At the Tree Planting and Data Capturing exercise, a total of 100 economic trees were planted at the Lagos State Model Junior and Senior College, Badore, with the support of Bosch Nigeria.
As part of this initiative, the school management inaugurated the Creative Club50 in junior and senior schools to aid training and capacity building where 100 students designated as Tree Managers will monitor and care for the trees in line with the designed module on Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Environmental Education, ArtNovation and SDGs.
In her remarks, the CEO and Project Director of CYCDI-Solution17, Foluke Michael, affirmed that her organisation is also partnering with one of the world’s best technology companies with comprehensive Climate Technology that will support the attainment of SDGs.
She also revealed that the partnership and the Solution17 Trees From Art FOREST will be unveiled by the first week of June.
“The technology will help businesses integrate tree planting into their processes: connect customers to its sustainability journey, set up loyalty programmes, trees for employee engagement, trees for rewards, and transparency carbon offsetting programme.” she added.
Trees from Art aims to plant 100,000 Economic Trees and embark on Climate Education, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Technology and Artnovation in secondary and technical schools in Lagos State.
