Victor Boniface’s Norwegian club, Bodø/Glimt, is in line to feature in the 2021-2022 edition of the UEFA Champions League after beating Strømsgodset 2-1 at the Marienlyst Stadion (Drammen) on Sunday night to win the Eliteserien for the 2020 season.
The former Flying Eagles striker’s club had an unassailable 18-point lead over second placed Molde and has been crowned champions of the Eliteserien for the 2020 season with five rounds left to play.
This is the first time in the 104-year history of the club that they have won the highest level of Norwegian football league system.
Boniface played the last nine minutes against Strømsgodset, coming off the bench to replace Philip Zinckernagel.
The only match the talented teenager was not utilized so far this season was against Sandefjord, only because he was serving a one-game ban for accumulated bookings.
In 24 league outings this term, he registered his name on the scoresheet six times while producing three assists.
A product of Real Sapphire FC, Boniface was named in the Flying Eagles squad for the 2019 Africa U20 Cup of Nations but was replaced at the last minute after suffering a knee injury.
