Boko Haram terrorists have attacked Bamzir village in Borno State, killing two residents and burning down a church.
The attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday, around 2:10 am, in Bamzir, located within the Whuntaku District of Chibok Local Government Area.
According to a statement from the media team of Chibok LGA Chairman, Mustapha Madu, the terrorists launched a violent assault, setting several houses ablaze and killing two brothers, Josiah Pogu Pudza, a student in SS Two, and Enoch Pogu Pudza. A third individual, Esther Yohanna, was injured with a bullet wound.
The attackers also looted food supplies, livestock, and set fire to the EYN LCC church auditorium, along with numerous houses and shops.
The victims were buried early the following morning, with Mustapha Madu present at the funeral to pay his condolences to the bereaved family.
He also conducted an inspection of the damaged properties, including the burnt church and buildings.
The tragedy comes just as a similar attack by suspected Lakurawa terrorists in Kebbi State resulted in the deaths of three people, including two telecom workers.
The terrorists targeted a site where workers were installing surveillance equipment for the Nigeria Immigration Service.
This incident further highlights the ongoing security challenges in Northern Nigeria, as terrorist and bandit groups continue to carry out violent attacks across various regions.
